Godemiche wand heads: varieties of clitoral stimulation

I’ve got a bunch of Godemiche wand heads that I’ve been meaning to write about for a while. Don’t ask me how long, it’s genuinely embarrassing how much time it has taken me to write up this not-a-review. I’ve had a pack of colourful heads sitting on my bedroom floor just itching to be opened and used, but because I had a selection of different types and textures, I wanted to have a go at using all of them a few times so I could work out how best to describe what exactly they do. It’s complicated, fun, and requires a little (OK, a lot) of explanation about different types of clitoral stimulation.

The Godemiche wand heads were provided to me for free, and they sponsor my website so if you buy through them you help to support my work. Use the code GOTNSHOP to get 10% off anything on their website.

When I wank with a Doxy – my wand toy of choice – I don’t apply the head directly to my clit. Instead I apply the toy to my pubic mound, with my outer labia firmly closed/covering my clit. I’m not the only person who feels like my wand delivers so much power that it requires gentler handling. Some people insert a fabric barrier – like a towel or pair of knickers – between the head and their vulva. You can see a few different techniques in this handy guide I wrote on how to wank with a Doxy, which is worth a browse if you’ve previously struggled with the sheer intensity of a power tool that could otherwise be used to knock through stud walls.

If you use your Doxy (or other wand toy) like this, you might think that the addition of texture to the head will do little to enhance your sensation. After all, surely any kind of barrier – whether the thickness of flannel or the fleshiness of your pubic mound/labia – will interfere with the texture and make it useless anyway.

But that is not the case.

Wand heads versus grind rings

I first discovered that texture could be interesting when Godemiche sent me a couple of their grind rings to try out.

Blue grind ring on left, a sort of pizza-slice-sized, textured piece of silicone with ridgey waves along a raised nub just above a hole at the bottom of it. Red one on the left, same size and shape, but with bumpy texture above the hole.

Unlike the wand heads, the grind ring is designed to be attached to a penis. You slide the hole of the toy over your chosen dick (whether silicone or flesh), and then ride it with grinding strokes. The texture of the ring will stimulate your wet clit as you hump away, and give you something extra to press yourself against and nudge yourself closer to coming. At the time I couldn’t try out the grind rings this way, so instead I settled for laying them on my pubic mound, texture side down, then vigorously frotting myself with a Doxy. And I was surprised to find that texture truly did add to the experience:

“The textures of the grind rings disburse the feelings too, so you can genuinely grind your way to different sensations depending on where the squishy bumps and ridges land on (or around) your clit.”

Today I want to be more precise in describing it, because I think that will help those of you who might want this sort of thing to understand whether it’s right for you. Not all toys are perfect for every body, which is partly why I try not to say ‘this one gets 8 out of 10’ or whatever: my perfect 10 might be your pathetic waste of money, and vice versa. You can never really know until you’ve pressed it to your junk.

If you wank by applying the Doxy to your clit directly then you’ll probably already know if the textures will work for you. Wet clit, open cunt, Doxy sliding around as you go at yourself: attaching a sleeve that covers the head of your wand in bumps, ridges or waves will make that sensation more intense, proportionate to how much you tend to move the toy. But if you wank by grinding against it without applying the head to your vulva directly, what I want to loosely refer to as ‘muffled’ clitoral stimulation, the bumps have a more subtle – but no less important – effect.

External (muffled) clitoral stimulation

The best way to explain what I think is happening is by reference to the clitoris as a whole. Most of us know that the ‘head’ (or glans) of the clit is actually just the tip of the iceberg – your clitoris is much bigger than what you see on the outside, and actually extends quite far into your body, with a shaft that’s buried further in and ‘crura’ that wrap your vagina from each side. There are some useful diagrams over here on the website I go to for anything sex ed: Bish.

I think when I wank with a Doxy, what’s happening is an orgasm that encompasses significant portions of the internal clitoris. The rumbles on the toy are very powerful, and they don’t just tremble the surface of my skin where I apply the head, they also judder through the meat of my body and have an effect on the rest of the clitoris too. This is reflected in the type of orgasm a Doxy wand will create, as opposed to a pinpoint clit one (like I have when I use my Doxy bullet or Zumio). The vibrations are broad and deep, traveling further. This might also explain why I tend to need a dildo less often when I’m wanking with a Doxy: I don’t need extra g-spot stim because the rumbles are shuddering all the way through my cunt already anyway.

So! The Doxy sends big, broad vibrations down my body and through my internal clit, but the texture of a soft silicone head can’t actually touch my internal clit and stimulate it the same way texture would provide external clitoral stimulation if I used it without a barrier. What it can do, though, is disrupt the pattern of those vibrations. After all, if I’m crushing the Doxy against my body, when the head is smooth the force with which I am crushing it will be roughly equal no matter where I position the toy. With a patterned, bumpy texture, the force with which the vibrations are thumped into my flesh will be slightly more intense where the pattern is raised, and gentle in the gaps between bumps. As I move the toy around in the same area, basically rolling/grinding it over the plumper part of my vulva, I can feel the sensations flicker from hard to gentle depending on where the bumps happen to fall.

If you were to measure this with a seismograph, the intensity of vibrations traveling through my body to my internal clit would be stronger where the texture of the toy is most concave, and weaker where the texture of the toy is convex. So by moving the Doxy (with Godemiche wand head attached) around the area, I’m essentially massaging the sensitive internal bits of my clit with alternating softer/harder pulses. Accompanied by the actual variety that is the Doxy’s built-in pulse mode (a steadily increasing shudder followed by a gloriously thumpy doof – like you’re in a club and the DJ’s just dropped the beat so hard you can feel it in your cunt) makes for some pretty magic stuff. And I guess by ‘magic stuff’ I mean ‘a pretty epic wank.’ That’s usually what I mean when I refer to as magic: the magic we make with our hands is common, but even cooler for that, in my opinion.

I hope this description makes sense to you, gang. I’ve had a lot of wanks and made many notes in order to get it as right as I can. If it helps you to envisage this, I’ll also tell you that the toy with ‘waves’ does not work as well for this purpose – I think because the waves are just a little too soft…

…and the one with straight ridges works but I find myself applying it differently (more of an up-and-down grind than a rolling one, because that’s how the ridges texture best translates the Doxy vibrations into ones that thrum through my body).

For further clarity (I hope) I’ll also tell you that I have two extra prototype Godemiche wand heads, one of which has spikes instead of bumps: the spikes (soft silicone, they don’t actually stick into you like the forks in a Cosmo sex tip!) create the same effect but with more intensity.

The pinpoints of the spikes, crushed against me, distribute more power from the toy into my body than the blank gaps between them. Thus, again by rolling the head of the Doxy around, I can stimulate the parts of my clit that sit internally in almost-but-not-quite the same way that you’d stimulate the glans of the clit if you used the Doxy without barriers. It gives a different quality of orgasm to the ones I’d have just using my Doxy normally. To put it in layman’s terms: it makes me come real good.

PHEW. WOW. That’s AMAZING, GOTN. You should be a science writer or some shit!

Thank you, yes, I’m very great indeed. Reward me by sharing this post.

My next phase of experimentation, incidentally, would be to try using the Godemiche wand heads against a butt plug while it’s inside someone. Unfortunately, I don’t really get on with vibrations in my ass and right now I don’t know of anyone who might be into testing that. I have a vague suspicion that if you like vibrating butt plugs, then putting your textured-wand-head against the base of your butt plug (maybe something metal like this lovely Doxy one?) might do similar things to your prostate (or just your internal walls, if you don’t have a prostate) as it does to my internal clit. If you do try this, I’d love to know your results. The best science is peer-reviewed, after all.

What’s more, on my final edit pass of this blog post, I think it is also worth mentioning that I might try turning one of these wand heads inside-out at some point and using them to give a very gentle, textured massage to the taut head of somebody’s dick. But Godemiche already make pretty special masturbation sheaths, so if that’s what you’re after you can get one designed specifically for that purpose. I’m just a curious wanker, and I like to come up with new ways to use existing toys, in case you can only afford to buy one.

Should I get textured wand heads for my Doxy [or other wand vibrator]?

If you often wank with a Doxy (or use it a lot during sex play) and the above description sounds like your cup of tea, then absolutely yes you should try some. If you buy the wand heads direct from Godemiche, they’re £34.99 each and you can use my code – GOTNSHOP for 10% off your purchase. I’ve just spotted as well that if you buy a Doxy through them you can get it for £80 as opposed to the normal RRP of £99.99, so that’s worth considering too. They sponsor my site and they gave me the heads for free, if you buy through my links you’re helping to support my work.

It’s also important to note that you don’t need a Doxy specifically if you want to use these. I use ‘Doxy’ throughout this piece because it’s my favourite wand toy, and it’s a brand I massively rate (they also make bullets and butt plugs, both of which are absolutely incredible). But the squishy, stretchy nature of the silicone means it should fit on most standard wand heads including things like the Hitachi and various Lovehoney wands too. You just stretch it over the head of the wand, like a thicker, textured, more brightly-coloured condom. But actually easier to put on because condoms are sometimes a bitch.

Ooooh! I’m a big Godemiche fan (as evidence elsewhere on the site can show) so this is very interesting. G, do you think these would fit on a Doxy 3?

I definitely have a Doxy 3 kicking about so I will check and let you know! I think it will be loose but will probably have a similar effect!
