I’ve been having a very busy – and exciting – few weeks, with lots of people wanting interviews to chat about audio porn. Including a super-fun behind-the-scenes interview for Vice, a fab round-up of top audio sites in Forbes, and even the New York Fucking Times holy shit OMG! I am genuinely over the moon about this, and I can barely contain my delight. What started as a small project designed to make my site more accessible to/enjoyable for people using screenreaders has now become the most visited section of the site. These pictures were taken towards the start of my blogging career. You can see a couple of more recent images of me taken for Molly Moore’s Sinful Sunday project, if you click the Sinful Sunday tag on the blog. There are woefully few of them.
One of the reasons why I love working with Stuart Taylor and occasional guest illustrators is because I do not really like taking photos of myself – they always turn out either blurry and badly composed, or too revealing in how much of my home/life they show. I am incredibly bad at photography. The second (and probably more important!) reason why I prefer illustrations to photos is that with illustrations, this blog can show a range of different body types and people. When you see an article about sex in the mainstream media, too often (like with other mainstream media!) the image will feature people who fit a very narrow and limited definition of what counts as ‘sexy’. Illustrations allow for much more variety in terms of body type, situation, and creativity.
All this is here mainly to say: please don’t ask me to post more photos. These lovely shots were taken by people who know what they’re doing, at a time when I was confident and comfortable enough to have them taken. Any new photos of me you might see on this blog will likely be hastily-snapped phone pictures taken by me, of low quality and limited value.
